Sunderland City Council are seeking to recruit an Environmental Services Officer with experience in Waste and Recycling Services within our Environmental Services Directorate.

We are embarking on a challenging and exciting transformation programme, led by the new Director of Environmental Services.

You will be the lead for domestic refuse, recycling, garden waste and bulky waste collection services within one locality of the city, ensuring the service is cost efficient and effective.

You will also support both the newly appointed Head of Service for Waste, Technical and Fleet and the Waste and Recycling Services Manager to share and deliver the service, operating within the values, principles and strategic vision of the council and supporting delivery of the City Plan.

You’ll be working closely with colleagues to help ensure the overall effectiveness of service delivery, strategies, driving efficiencies, cultural shift and the departmental agenda.

The post forms part of the year-round duty call out rota and the winter maintenance rota, attracting additional salary enhancements.

The position will deputise for the Waste and Recycling Services Manager as and when required.
