The Construction Consultancy Services (CCS) deliver professional services across a range of disciplines, our primary aim is to deliver capital build projects and programmes of all sizes, value and complexity that surpass customer expectation.

We manage internal and external design teams and construction partners to ensure projects undertaken and concluded are done so to the highest standards. Our portfolio is comprehensive and includes a rolling programme of circa 160 live projects with an overall portfolio CAPEX of £250M.

The team is responsible for the design and project management of new-build and refurbishment capital construction schemes, ranging from c.£50K to £10m+. Projects include educational buildings, sports and leisure facilities, public infrastructure, administration buildings, heritage projects, social care facilities and a continuous programme of capitalised maintenance condition works.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

This is a dedicated role assisting the Programme and Project Support Officer in supporting the CCS team in the provision of technical programme and project management support services across a number of construction projects and project workstreams.

You will maintain a central repository for all projects and project information, maintaining document control systems and project plans in line with the Royal Institute of British Architecture (RIBA) stages of development. Technical knowledge of project management methodology and construction stages will be required (training will be provided if required) in order to understand technical aspects of programming and project delivery.

You will also assist project leads in the preparation of key project management documents (technical project plans, progress reports, issue trackers and risk logs) to help co-ordinate, plan and control a project. Each individual project/work stream will have its own manager/lead, and a close and effective collaborative working relationship with those colleagues will therefore be required.

A key task will be the management and upkeep of the departments master programme of activity which is used to schedule resources.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

NVQ Level 4 or equivalent level of qualification is essential.

You must have experience of supporting colleagues, of collection and organisation of data and of maintaining databases of information.

The ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, along with good numeracy skills and being highly IT literate is essential.

HYBRID WORKING

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
