Grove House offers a specialist overnight short break service for children and young people with disabilities within Gateshead. We are looking for Care Assistants to join our team to provide support and personal care to children and young people with disabilities accessing services. The role includes attending and supporting the emotional, behavioural, personal hygiene and safety care needs of the service user. You will be promoting the independence of the service user whilst respecting their rights to privacy, dignity and choice and you will be aware of their emotional and social wellbeing. Therefore, it is essential you are qualified to Level 3 Diploma for children and young people’s workforce or equivalent, or a willingness to undertake this. You will be liaising and communicating with colleagues, service users and their parents, carers (where appropriate) and other professionals to share knowledge, seek advice and implement their care plans. Therefore, it is essential you have effective communication skills. Experience of working with children and young people and an awareness of disability is desirable.
