INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOOLS SPORTS PARTNERSHIP
The School Sport Partnership covers 7 Secondary Schools, 50 Primary Schools, 2 Junior Schools, 2 Infant Schools and 2 Special Schools in the Durham City, Chester-le-Street and Derwentside areas. The successful candidate will join a friendly, hard-working SSP team whose aims are to help improve the quality of Curriculum Physical Education, broaden participation/competitive opportunities, and develop active, healthy lifestyles.

We work closely with our Schools and a range of partners including Durham County Council, County Durham Sport, YST and other sporting agencies. We have access to excellent facilities within schools, Maiden Castle, local sports clubs and public facilities in the area. There is a supportive community network of clubs and other organisations keen to work together to develop sport and physical activity for young people in Durham and Chester-le-Street.

THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented specialist Physical Education teacher or a Primary teacher with a Physical Education background. A suitable candidate will have recent teaching experience and expertise in developing and implementing a successful PE programme, with experience of working alongside Primary School Teachers.

The delivery of gymnastics and supporting Primary Schools to improve their delivery of this will be a central feature of this role. Therefore a good knowledge base in gymnastics and experience of delivering this across the Primary age range is essential.

A successful track record in delivering high quality PE in a range of educational environments along with a commitment to extra-curricular activities and experience of working with other agencies is essential. The successful candidate must be innovative, hardworking, enthusiastic, be able to work within a team and have the motivation/drive to succeed in this challenging role.

HYBRID WORKING
Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
