Newcastle Trainee opportunities are now available for individuals who are looking to start their careers at Newcastle City Council. As a trainee you will be working within one of our teams, learning a variety of tasks to help build and enhance your skills and experience in work.  

Our Newcastle Trainee get experience of real work with pay in one of our busy teams. Our traineeships are full time (37 hours per week) for 12 weeks and are paid the Real Living Wage.

The Job 
Newcastle Trainee posts are currently available in the following areas: 

Business Support Teams (2 posts) 

Construction (2 posts) 

Service User Finance (1 post)  

As well as learning on the job, we’ll support you to develop new skills, and to work towards Level 2 Maths and English qualifications if you don’t already have them. 

The Candidate 
You will be looking to take your first steps in a new career, with a strong desire to learn. You don’t need any work experience or particular qualifications to be successful in this role, but if you are motivated, can resolve problems, and have some experience of being part of a team then this opportunity could be for you. Your experience can be from school, volunteering, or from other activities such as sports clubs or interest groups. We welcome applications from all ages (18+) and backgrounds.
