We have an exciting opportunity for an individual who is enthusiastic about the opportunities presented by net zero and motivated to develop investible net zero project propositions with local authorities and benefitting the communities they serve.
This role will work collaboratively across the Tees Valley area, building relationships with and across the five local authorities of Darlington, Stockton, Hartlepool, Middlesborough, and Redcar & Cleveland and developing strategic approaches to implementing low carbon pathways in areas such as building decarbonisation, transport, housing retrofit, and renewable energy schemes.
The successful post holder will provide advice and capacity support to help identify, co-ordinate, and develop investible business cases for initiatives that will help to drive forward local net zero strategies and public sector plans in the Tees Valley. Working as a valued member of the North East & Yorkshire Net Zero Hub team the role will also contribute to achieving the overarching aims and ambitions of the Hub, ensuring that learnings are shared and opportunities to deliver across boundaries and optimised.
The successful candidate will be a strong collaborator, working well across a diverse geography, as well as being comfortable working with external stakeholders, including Local Authorities, businesses, and community organisations. They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as being highly organised, independently motivated, and able to prioritise their own workload.
The role will require a keen problem solver, able to identify where they can add value to support delivery and how to access additional support as needed. Some familiarity with Green Book principles of project development and low-carbon technologies, as well as the ability to travel independently throughout the region, is desirable.
Previous experience with funding models, leveraging commercial investment into projects, or calculating carbon savings would be an advantage in this role.
