You will provide excellent customer care, within an important Council service that supports the day to day activities of local residents, businesses and visitors to the area.
Civil Enforcement officers are the eyes and ears of the local community, carrying out a range of important tasks. The main duties of this post will be to carry out on and off street parking enforcement around the Sunderland City Council ward areas. You will play a key role in liaising with members of the public and giving advice on parking issues and enforcement procedures ensuring that the Council’s customer care policy is adhered to at all times. You will be required to issue penalty charge notices to vehicles parked in contravention of the regulations.
You must have the ability to communicate with customers, be able to provide excellent people skills in order to assist members of the public and be able to handle and diffuse difficult situations. You should also have the ability to become a fully accredited Civil Enforcement Officer and achieve Wamitab Certificate for Civil Enforcement Officers (Parking) or equivalent, upon successful appointment. The successful candidate would require a general standard of education, a short assessment is required as part of the interview process. PC skills would be advantageous, as this role requires the use of various pieces of equipment, including CCTV.
This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Work schedule is as follow:
Full time
Monday - Sunday, four days out of seven .
Two tier shift pattern 7.00am - 5.00pm and 10.00am - 8.00pm. Contractual hours 7.00am - 10.00pm to cover events.
