Durham County Council is looking to appoint to the role of Coroner Service Manager. The post holder will work closely with the Senior Coroner and the Legal & Democratic Services Practice Manager to lead, co-ordinate and develop the work of the Coroner Officers and Inquest & Support Officers.
The primary purpose of the role will be to maintain an effective, efficient service through the day-to-day management of the team.
You will have excellent leadership and managerial skills, effective communication and listening skills, demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills and a desire to deliver an exceptional service to the residents of County Durham & Darlington.
WHAT IS INVOLVED:
The role will include the design and implementation of an induction programme with supporting documentation, supporting the continuing professional development and training of the team and undertaking performance management to identify areas of development and required support.
Change management and business development are also key aspects of this role. It will be the post holder’s responsibility to liaise on a regular basis with the Senior Coroner to deliver their requirements for the service as well as looking for opportunities to develop and continuously improve the service. The post holder will then lead on implementing change ensuring all members of the team are involved in the process and unified in the service vision. An understanding of the work of the Coroner Service is desirable but not essential.

WHAT WILL I NEED:
You should have NVQ Level 4 Management or similar qualification in Administration or equivalent experience.

HYBRID WORKING:
Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
