Information about the Department

Within our busy catering department we provide a variety of food and refreshments for our staff, visitors, partners and trainees, based at our Service Headquarters, Washington, Tyne and Wear.

About the role

You will be responsible for undertaking a variety of tasks including: hot meals provision, sandwich preparation, buffet preparation, processing till/card transactions, cash reconciliation and general end of shift housekeeping duties plus any other requirements from day to day as directed by the Head Chef.

This is a fast paced role and the ideal candidate will need to be able to perform well under pressure. Excellent communication skills and knowledge of a variety of foods / ingredients (Including foods to suit specific dietary requirements) is essential.

You must be flexible in your approach to work and have the ability to lead & train other members of the team.

Main duties:

• Preparing & cooking food
• Keeping up with industry standards including Food Hygiene and Allergen awareness
• Assisting with menu preparation
• Ordering food from suppliers when required
• Assist with managing relationships and dealing with issues with suppliers
• Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen
• Ensuring that high quality of food and service is maintained
• Deputise for the Head Chef from time to time
• Demonstrate good front of house customer care skills
