Following a review of the SEND Service, we are looking for 2 additional SEND Case Workers. You will be based at Gateshead Civic Centre however, it is envisaged that moving forwards, following an initial period of induction, the postholder will work on a hybrid basis.
The SEND Service supports the assessment, monitoring and review of children with special educational needs and disabilities.
You will be responsible for casework and statutory assessments, overseeing the assessment, planning and review process for families across schools and a range of service providers, including education, health and social care and voluntary sectors and ensuring effective and timely delivery of the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) needs assessment process and EHC Plans.
It is essential you have experience and knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice, effective use of specialist ICT packages and working within the SEN Code of Practice guidelines.
You will have previous experience of working in Local Government, Health Authority or a similar organisation and preparing written reports. You will hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, in a relevant discipline, GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above or equivalent and a high level of interpersonal and initiative skills.
