The Meadows is a Local Authority maintained special school providing education for secondary-aged pupils who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties.  It is located seven miles from the City of Durham, serving young people living across County Durham and neighbouring areas. 

The Interim Executive Board is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative Headteacher with a proven record of successfully introducing and managing change in order to bring about improved outcomes.

The successful applicant will be required to lead on a journey to further develop and improve the quality of teaching and learning and provision across the school.  They will need to provide high quality leadership that embraces the curriculum, pastoral care and school management.
They will need to introduce change that brings about effective policies and procedures to ensure improvements are successfully embedded and maintained in order to maximise learning and development opportunities for students as well as staff.  Experience in effective budget management and working well with all stakeholders is essential as the school re-establishes itself in the wider community.
