Further Information
The Fostering Placements Service is seeking to recruit a new Placements and Data Officer for our busy placements desk. The ability to work as part of a team is crucial and the role involves developing close and productive working relationships with foster carers and colleagues in the Fostering and Children’s Social Care Teams as well as with the Mini Competitions Team.

Effective liaison with Foster Carers and Supervising Social Workers to ascertain placement availability is essential to this role.  The main duties will be to seek and find appropriate placements, matching children on referral with carers who can meet their needs both in a planned way and in emergency situations. The quality of the referral information is crucial so the Placements and Data Officer will have a key role in quality assuring the referral and working closely with the child’s Social Worker to ensure all the relevant information is included.  Placement and Data Officers are expected to be able to use software and systems to keep accurate records of placement searches undertaken and may be required to produce written evidence about placement searches for the Court and provide reports with analysis of placement data for the senior management group.

Placement and Data Officers are required to attend a weekly placement meeting with Fostering Managers and Supervising Social Workers in order to collate information regarding carer availability and potential matches for children and update systems following this.

Due to the nature of the role, applicants will need to demonstrate a flexible approach to work and their ability to respond quickly and creatively when the need arises. This is currently a hybrid role which requires the Placement and Data Officers to work from the office for a proportion of the working week.
