Our Science Department

We are a dedicated, creative and successful team of 6 teachers covering all three specialisms, with two full-time technicians. 2023 saw our department continue to deliver positive ‘Progress 8’ for science, with this year advancing our position both in our local area and nationally. As an Academy we delivered our best results.

In KS3 pupils have 4 hours of science a week and KS4 has 4/5 hours per week. The department occupies several fully equipped laboratories, a large prep/work room and a dedicated collaborative working space. We are also in the process of expanding our department with a building project to increase our laboratory and classroom space ready for the end of this academic year. Members of the science department are key leaders in the whole academy, and this leads to a culture of sharing ideas and strategies to deliver innovative and dynamic teaching across the department. We have a 3-year KS3 following the national curriculum and KS4 follows the Edexcel exam syllabus.
