Gibside School is rated Outstanding by Ofsted. Staff, parents, and governors all work in partnership to ensure pupils thrive socially, emotionally, and educationally during their time with us.  We work with 190 children, aged 3 to 11 from across the whole borough of Gateshead.  The children have a wide range of needs including autistic spectrum condition (ASC), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and severe learning difficulties (SLD). Our aim is to inspire, motivate and challenge all our children and to build confident, cooperative, independent learners.  We moved into a brand new, state-of-the-art school building in 2021 which provides the excellent learning facilities our children so deserve.
We are currently looking to appoint an additional Family Support Worker to join our school.  You should have experience of working with children/ young people in a family support role and ideally within a school environment. You will have worked with parents and families previously and be able to develop relationships with multidisciplinary colleagues.  Other skills required include organisational and communication skills and confidence to represent school in various meetings.
A school prospectus and further information can be found at our website www.gibsideschool.org and via our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/GibsideSchool).  Shortlisting is planned for Thursday 7th December and interviews for Friday 15th December.
If you are successful, you will have to apply for an enhanced Disclosure.  This post may require a declaration under the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2009.
Salary amounts quoted are from 1st September to 31st August.  If you commence employment part way through the academic year they will be subeject to an equated salary adjustment.
