The School:
Joseph’s Catholic Academy is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust which is one of four Trusts in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. The Trust includes five Secondary and twenty-five Primary Schools across South Tyneside, Sunderland and East Durham.
As a growing and now oversubscribed Catholic secondary school, we are proud of the academic achievements of our students at all key stages, but we also have a clear focus on developing the ‘whole child’.
Our Catholic ethos is at the heart of our school community and strengthens us in all that we do.
Also, our FLAME character development programme keeps our focus firmly on developing children holistically, while supporting staff and students’ wellbeing.
Our September 2022 Ofsted inspection report said:
‘St Joseph’s Catholic Academy, Hebburn is a Good school where pupils value their teachers and the Leadership team invests time in all staff, ensuring they feel supported with their workload and wellbeing.’
‘All pupils, including those with special education needs and/or disabilities, benefit from studying an ambitious curriculum and from having dedicated lessons that help them to develop as individuals.’
‘There is a settled atmosphere in lessons and around school, and lessons are purposeful.’
The Role:
The Support Team at St Joseph’s Catholic Academy has an important role to play in the smooth running and success of the school. The role of First Aider supports the Safeguarding Team to ensure that students and staff are well, and that the necessary treatment is administered to prevent further injury or illness.
Covering first aid duties for a growing Secondary School, you will be able to triage and prioritise patients accordingly. You will be responsible for informing next of kin and providing advice when necessary, as well as recording detailed reports of treatment provided to individuals.
Experience of working with a variety of different computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office/OneDrive and Google Docs is vital for this role.
The ability to deliver training to staff and students would be an advantage to your application.
If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, please complete the application pack which includes:
• Application Form
• Recruitment Monitoring Form
• Consent to Obtain References
Application forms and further details are available on the school’s website to be returned to the school or
office@stjosephs.uk.net
Closing date: Monday 27th November 2023 @ 9am
Interviews will be held week beginning 4th December
Electronic signatures will be accepted but candidates will be required to add a written signature to their application when circumstances allow.
The position we are filling is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and a satisfactory Enhanced DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required as part of preemployment checks. An online search will be completed for all shortlisted candidates.
Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust is an equal opportunities employer, welcoming applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and we expect staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
