If you answered yes to these questions, then you might be the perfect candidate for the role of Attendance Officer at
Biddick Academy! We have an exciting opportunity for an energetic and motivated Attendance Officer to join our
pastoral team in supporting improvements in attendance at an individual, cohort and whole school level.
Biddick Academy is a secondary school with over 1100 students on roll. The school is situated on an open site on the
outskirts of the village of Washington, Tyne and Wear around 15 minutes’ drive to both Durham and Newcastle. The
school has a specific area for special educational needs students called the Unity Centre. The school is committed to
safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
As an Attendance Officer, you will be responsible for managing and delivering the attendance process by providing
accurate student information regarding daily attendance and punctuality. You will also be responsible for maintaining
and reporting on attendance records, liaising with staff, students, parents, and multi-agency partners, and developing
strategies to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence. You will work alongside the Attendance Manager,
who will oversee the attendance strategy and policy for the whole school.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
? A good standard of education, preferably with GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent
? Experience of working in a school or educational setting, preferably with knowledge of attendance systems
and procedures would be an advantage but not essential.
? Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new IT systems
? The ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
? The ability to work independently and as part of a team
? The ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with a range of stakeholders, including students,
parents, staff, and external agencies
? The ability to handle confidential information and data in line with GDPR and safeguarding requirements
? A positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
? A commitment to the ethos and values of the school
The salary for this role is £20,804 - £22,247 actual salary per year (Full time equivalent salary is £24,294 –
25,979). The working hours are 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time only). The start date is as soon as
possible.
