This a ‘Brand New’ unique opportunity for people who love to work with children and young people.
 
South Tyneside have invested in a purpose built 2 bedroomed children home.

Do you have the skills and experience to care for up to 2 children (8-17 years) in a residential children’s home. This is unique opportunity for the right person, as the children would live in the home for up to 12 weeks whilst assessments are completed to determine their longer-term needs.
 
You will build relationships with lots of children and young people due to this new challenging job role. No two days will be the same, the home will require an energic and creative individual who will bring fun and laughter as well as safety and security. This will be a fast paced and exciting environment, so energy and initiative are vital.
 
You will be involved in all aspects of the lives of children and young people who live in the home. Some of the daily tasks will include:
  • Transporting to school, college or appointments
  • Making the home clean, warm and cosy Cooking meals and encouraging participation in local activities and hobbies
  • Updating records, care plans and risk assessments 
You will be an integral member of the child / young persons care team and will need to have excellent communication skills.
 
Our service promotes relationship-based practice that is child-centred, and trauma informed.
 
You will adopt an aspirational approach to support and develop the Children’s Homes Service to achieve its vision of providing high quality care and support to children, young people and their families as detailed in the Children’s Homes Statement of Purpose.
 
About You:
  • You will have a Level 3 or 4 Qualification (or equivalent) in Children and Young People (or willingness to undertake).
  • You have previous experience of direct work with Children and Young People and their families, but not essential.
  • You can demonstrate an ability to place the Child or Young Person and family at the centre of all practice and decision making.
  • You can undertake shift work, including Sleep-Ins, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
  • Experience of working in a Children’s Residential setting is desirable, but not essential.
