This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated finance professional to join an inclusive, successful and well respected finance service as a Senior Accounting and Finance Officer to support the delivery of the Council’s exciting and ambitious Capital Programme.  Over £165m of capital investment will be delivered into Hartlepool in the coming years, supporting the delivery of Council services and significantly boost economic regeneration in the area.

Major schemes include; transport connectivity improvements, a new wellbeing and leisure facility ‘Highlight’, waterfront improvements; and,
the creation of a Screen Production Village. 

The ideal candidate will have experience of capital budget preparation, capital budgetary control, and closure of accounts, as well as having excellent proven IT skills. Working as part of a newly centralised established Capital Team, you will have a range of high profile duties including:

assisting budget holders in understanding and managing their capital budget position as part of the budget monitoring process;

the preparation of capital final accounts and the annual statutory accounts in accordance with relevant accounting and statutory requirements;

the compilation of relevant claims, returns and financial statistics and liaison with external auditors, grant providers and other external agencies;

For this role you will have local authority experience and as a minimum you will be AAT qualified or equivalent.
