We are looking to appoint a Science Technician to join our Science department team. The purpose of the role is to undertake duties in support of the practical work carried out in science lessons and deliver efficient technical support and oversee the safe storage, preparation of materials, chemicals and setting up and clearing away of equipment used in the science lessons and supporting the Head of Science in compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
Previous experience of practical skills in science disciplines and experience of working within a school environment is desirable but not essential. The ideal candidate is organised and proactive and will contribute to the delivery of Science at KS3, 4 & 5.
You will be able to demonstrate:
• A broad knowledge of all science disciplines
• A good understanding of health and safety, COSHH, hazards and risk assessments and practical experiment requirements
• Practical competence and strong organisation skills
• Ability to show initiative and work within deadlines
• Work flexibly to support the team
• Good IT skills, particularly MS Excel
