Further Information
We are recruiting a Best Interest Assessor to our Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards team as a primary BIA.
This is a 2 year fixed term post which will include a focus on working with adults who require a DoLS authorisation whilst in hospital and / or those who are likely to require an authorisation following their discharge from hospital into a care home.
The post holder will also work closely with the hospital social work team to support with complex issues around mental capacity.
This is a great opportunity to join a small, friendly team whose focus is on undertaking BIA assessments in a thorough and timely manner in order to promote the rights and wellbeing of those we work with. You will be joining the DoLS team at a particularly interesting time as we seek to plan and support change across the service area proposed by the new LPS scheme; in doing so we are working innovatively to promote central themes of human rights based practice with an excellent understanding and application of the mental capacity act throughout the local authority.
Please note - in order to be eligible for this role you will require registration with Social Work England and hold a Best Interests Assessor qualification.
We offer excellent terms of service including hybrid working arrangements, a generous annual leave allowance and options for flexible working (where appropriate). The post is identified as being a full time equivalent, however part time or job share will also be considered for the right candidate.
By working for Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council you will also have opportunities to progress your career by specialising in particular areas of practice, such as older people or learning disabilities, and with additional qualification such as practice educator and AMHP. All primary BIA’s will be prioritised for AMCP conversion under LPS.
Please ensure you refer to the essential and desirable criteria detailed in the Person Specification when completing your application as they are used to select candidates for interview.
If you would like further information about the posts please contact the DoLS team manager Lucy Allison on 01642 444 375.
The council holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.
The authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children/young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an enhanced disclosure & barring service check (DBS) will be sought.
