This is a rare opportunity to join Business Gateshead, a dedicated team within the Council that works with partners to create the conditions for business at all stages to thrive and prosper. 

About the role….

This position is fixed term to 31 March 2025, with the opportunity to extend subject to funding availability.                                                        

The successful applicant will join the Council’s dynamic and successful Enterprise and Industry Unit that seeks to create an environment where new and existing businesses can invest, grow and prosper; through a mix of cross-cutting and sector-specific activities.

The role will focus on supporting the expansion and retention of strategic employers through proactive account management, developing relationships at a senior level, and planning for growth by working with employer organisations and partners and improving the business environment.

The ideal candidate will be flexible to the needs of Gateshead, working with a wide range of businesses and delivering initiatives to stimulate enterprise, drive competitiveness, innovation and productivity.

With demonstratable knowledge of local economic conditions; local, national and regional business support services and business management processes, you will possess a relevant degree or equivalent qualification, substantial and relevant experience may be acceptable as an alternative, and have experience of working with businesses to influence investment decisions and collaborating with partners to deliver outcomes.

Secondment requests will be considered.

You’ll be paid a competitive salary £35,235 to £37,938.

You will receive an annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days per year (pro-rata for part time employees) rising to 32, 2 of which may be fixed by the council at any time. You also have the chance to buy up to 10 additional holidays per year.
