About you

Are you passionate about learning? Do you strive for the best in everything you do, and think you could make a positive difference to lives of autistic and/or neurodivergent individuals? If this sounds like you, and you’re seeking a rewarding job role, we are currently recruiting for people like you!

Working independently and as part of a team, you will support children and young people to access highly personalised programmes of study, with the aim of helping them to achieve their individual aspirations. You will need to be enthusiastic, able to use your own initiative, have a drive and resilience for what is often a demanding role; and you must be people-centred with good communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with both staff and pupils.

Whilst we value relevant experience, it is not essential for candidates to have previously worked with autistic individuals – all we ask is that you are hard-working, willing to learn and committed to promoting the positive development of children and young people. If you think you could be a good fit for Team NEAS, don't hesitate to apply.

For more than 40 years we’ve led the way in providing autism-specific care and education for children, young people, and adults across the North-East of England.

This role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. As such it will be necessary for a enhanced Disclosure submission to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions and filtering and monitoring process . The North East Autism Society’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children, young people and adults across all of our services is reflected in our safer recruitment process.

As a Disability Confident Employer we guarantee to interview all applicants with a disability who meet the minimum criteria for this job vacancy.

We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer (EOE) here at NEAS. We believe everyone has the right to be themselves. We not only celebrate diversity but recognise the value and opportunity it brings. We are committed to creating a workplace where all differences are valued, and we make sure that all colleagues are given the same opportunities.

It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children and/or vulnerable adults.
