The team…
We want Gateshead town centre to be a safe, clean and vibrant place where people can live, work and play.
About the role….
We are looking for two people (one full time and one part time of 20 hours per week) to work in Gateshead Town Centre as a town centre ambassadors and pilot the role till 31st March 2025. Shift Pattern: Monday – Saturday between 10am – 8pm, Sunday between 10am – 4pm.
There is so much opportunity to make our town centre thrive again, from our bustling Railway Quarter to our retail core in Trinity Square and a passionate community of businesses and residents who are dedicated to supporting change.
You will be spokesperson for the ambitious plans the council has in the town centre, you will support the council in changing perceptions of Gateshead Town Centre by sharing your passion and knowledge of the town centre with both residents and visitors.
You will be there to show empathy and compassion towards some of our most vulnerable residents, supporting them to access services which will support them to thrive.
You will also work closely with the Northumbria Polices neighbourhood team, supporting them by being the eyes and ears on the ground, sharing information and providing witness statements to them.
You will regularly engage with local businesses ensuring they are supported, feeding information received back to the relevant internal council services and to external services.
You will work with a dedicated team of officers who will support you to thrive in the role.
You will provide regular feedback to our Town Centre Manager and our Community Safety Team, sharing information to support and influence the delivery of projects in the town centre.

You’ll be paid a competitive salary £25,992 to £27,269 p.a (pro rata for the part time post).
