Further Information
As we approach our fourth year of embedding a relational and restorative practice culture across our service, we are looking for an experienced social work leader who is committed to children and families receiving excellent services. We are looking for a motivated, child centred practitioner to join our skilled and passionate workforce. If you want to join a service which is rated Good in all areas and is committed to working with families, rather than doing to them, then Newcastle is the place for you.

We are looking for a Team Manager to join our Children in Care and Care Leavers Service. The service provides support to children and young people in our care and care leavers. The post provides an opportunity to lead and manage a team of dedicated practitioners in the delivery of high quality services to care experinced young people.

You must be able to supervise and manage a team of practitioners confidently and creatively. You must be driven and ambitious, both for yourself and the staff you manage but most importantly for the young people and families we work with. As a confident leader you must be able to drive best practice in a supportive and reflective way to champion children and their families whilst ensuring that the safety of children remains your highest priority.  You will practice at the highest of standards and motivate others to do the same.

In February 2022 Newcastle Children’s Social Care was rated as GOOD across all areas by Ofsted. Ofsted have also recently visited the Initial Response Service for a focused visit and said, “Children and families in Newcastle receive effective responses when referred to the social care front door. Children in need of help and protection receive a response that is timely and proportionate and improves their situation. The front door workforce is highly skilled and knowledgeable. Children’s lived experiences are well considered leading to informed and effective interventions”.

Through our innovative work as part of the DFE’s Strengthening Families Protecting Children programme we have implemented the Family Valued approach across our service and city to transform how we work with children, families, and partners. Family Valued is a relational and restorative approach to services, focussing on strength and values. If you want to continue to grow and develop your skillset now is the time to join us!

As an enthusiastic team player, you will benefit from a dedicated and supportive workplace culture where we will support you to succeed. We will encourage you to be creative and progress your career.
In addition, you will receive:
• A dedicated 5-day induction
• Generous annual leave in addition to Bank Holidays with the ability to buy additional leave annually
• A range of flexible working options
• A generous Flexi Scheme
• Access to wellbeing initiatives
• Access to a generous, defined benefit pension scheme
