The successful candidate will lead the continuous operational service improvement and will develop and manage an effective performance management framework, ensuring Operators Licence processes are compliant including the delivery of key projects to support this.

We are seeking a candidate who will be able to manage a team of administrative staff and have significant post qualification experience in the area.  With a degree and / or relevant professional qualification or experience, we are looking for a candidate who will be able to work with senior managers to reinforce good practice as well as having the ability to manage budgets and be able to analyse, interpret and present complex information.  Being able to implement performance and compliance frameworks is essential as is having the ability to identify complex challenges and problem solve.  Training skills are required for this post in order to be able to support fleet drivers and teams in understanding the requirements for their roles.  It is equally as important that the successful candidate is able to support compliance across multiple teams of fleet driver operatives including such areas as driver hours, vehicle overloads, defect reporting and the observation of road rules.  This role will also involve liaison with Health and Safety colleagues to embed best practice.

It would be desirable that the candidate has a recognised Transport Manager CPC qualification but not essential however a willingness to work towards this would be beneficial.

We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.

We are an ambitious Council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.
