About us
Cleveland Fire Authority is seeking to recruit ambitious, innovative, and forward-thinking individuals to supervisory roles within its state of the art Fire Control Room. Over the coming months we have several vacancies at Crew Manager level roles and therefore we want to establish a talent pool of people eligible for current and future temporary or substantive appointments.
Recently rated as ‘Good’ in all areas by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Service, we consider ourselves to be a high performing, innovative organisation – one that is well regarded by our communities and Partners.
We are looking for people who will be committed to the achievement of our vision – people who will make a difference to the safety and quality of life of every local citizen on Teesside.
To be successful you will need to demonstrate and understanding of the challenges facing the Fire and Rescue Service and offer evidence of supporting the delivery of transformational change. You will act as an ambassador for equality, diversity, and inclusion, as well as being a role model for our values and ethical behaviours.
If you are looking for a supervisory leadership opportunity in a fire and rescue service with a great reputation and a strong track record of visible leadership and delivering positive outcomes for our communities, then Cleveland could be for you.
Information about us
Cleveland Fire Brigade covers an area of 597 sq km and provides fire and rescue services to its diverse communities across Teesside in the districts of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockon. Although a relatively small Brigade compared to other nationally it serves a population of over 579,000, living in 265,00o dwellings. Within the Cleveland area is the largest concentration of chemical and petro-chemical complexes in Europe, including 23 top-tier COMAH sites. The area is also home to Teesport and Hartlepool ports which form part of the largest free port in the UK.
As well as the high proportion of chemical sites in the Cleveland Fire Brigade area there is also a nuclear power station, Railtrack marshalling yard and on the border with Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue, is Teesside International Airport which is enjoying new expansion. We have within our area four solar power energy farms, four anaerobic digestion plants, 12 on shore wind farms, five biomass power stations and a battery energy storage site with a second under construction.
The road network in Cleveland area covers 2518 km, including three major roads, the A19 which runs north to south and the A174 and the A66 which both run east to west. Along these roads travel road tankers and other heavy haulage vehicles which service the chemical industries situated on both banks of the River Tees.
This results in Cleveland Fire Control dealing with 14,552 calls in 2023/24 resulting in 8665 incidents.
