WHAT IS INVOLVED?
You will join a welcoming, supportive team completing a rolling program of improvements and ongoing planned and preventative maintenance tasks. The role also includes some independent work where there will be a reliance on self-motivation, high standards and attention to detail.
Your duties will include, maintenance activities, general housekeeping and repairs, caretaking and porterage duties and garden tending jobs such as, installing and maintaining seasonal plants, weed control, and keeping gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litter.
You will be based at Aycliffe Secure Centre, which is an award-winning residential accommodation for vulnerable young people aged between 10 and 18.
In addition to the advertised salary, overtime opportunities along with on call allowance and weekend enhancements are available.
Safe, clean, and comfortable surroundings can promote health and wellbeing, enable young people to feel safe and secure, and actively support development.
This is a rewarding opportunity where you can contribute towards making a real difference to the lives of vulnerable young people.
You will be required to work weekends as part of a wider team rota.
TRAINING
We offer a comprehensive four-week induction and shadowing programme for all new members of the team as well as excellent ongoing training and development opportunities including:
• IPAF Mobile Vertical (3a, 3a+) for scissor lifts.
• Physical Breakaway training to support you in Safe working practices.
• Key training to enable you to maintain high levels of safety and
security.
• Pool Plant Operators Training.
• Ongoing learning and development opportunities as part of Durham
County Councils Building and Facilities Management Team.

WHAT WILL I NEED?
You will need a NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, as well as experience of working in a general maintenance/ premises-based environment.
Please refer to the attached person specification for the full criteria. If successful, you will be required to undertake and pass an in-house driving assessment as part of our pre-employment checks before any offer of appointment can be confirmed.
