The North East Combined Authority was formed on 7 May 2024. We’re led by an Elected Mayor and Cabinet and cover the seven local authority areas of County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland.

We are looking for an experienced, pro-active self-starter with experience of smart technology adoption in a commercial environment to join the North East Growth Hub team. Driven by a passion for helping businesses you will work with business leaders to help identify challenges and opportunities for growth and motivate leaders to engage with the Made Smarter Adoption business support programme. Ideally, you will have experience of working within the digital, technology and manufacturing sector or have demonstrative experience of developing a sector specialism by exhibiting a good level of understanding, networks and knowledge about businesses and partners operating in a specialised sector. Building on the activities of our existing Growth Hub Connectors, the successful candidate will work with a diverse range of businesses to:
- Co-ordinate business leaders and digital champions through the Made Smarter Adoption programme including workshops and other shared best practice groups.
- Support business leaders and digital champions to develop a road map to becoming a smart manufacturer and to navigate the grant process for project implementation.
- Objectively diagnose business resilience, barriers to growth and productivity.
- Offer independent and impartial brokerage to business support and finance solutions that will help businesses remove barriers, build resilience and implement their plans.
- Co-ordinate and facilitate group discussion with business leaders through peer networks and other shared best practice groups.
Growth Hub Connectors are passionate about supporting businesses to fulfil their potential, they are a trusted and impartial broker to business support and finance solutions and are driven solely by the needs of the businesses.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, experienced in business development, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and able to demonstrate an understanding of the drivers and barriers of business growth, improvement and resilience.
