North Tyneside Council is seeking to recruit qualified Health Visitor (SCPHN) Team Lead to work with in the 0-19 Childrens Public Health Service.

This is your chance to work with an outstanding group of safeguarding and health professionals. The service has close working relationships with the early help service, multiagency safeguarding hub (MASH), education, housing, primary care, maternity services and sport and leisure which ensures good outcomes for families and provides positive working relationships for staff.

The Signs of Safety model is embedded throughout the service and robust safeguarding supervision is provided to colleagues by Safeguarding Nurse Advisors. North Tyneside Children’s Social Care was graded outstanding by Ofsted in 2024. Colleagues are provided with support and supervision from the Nurse Manager throughout their probationary period and beyond and have access to an identified preceptor. 

The Team Lead will work closely with the management team to meet national, local and service priorities. The post holder will work with the Nurse Manager and hold an 80% WTE caseload. The Team Lead will be expected to undertake the role of the Practice Assessor for SCPHN students.

The post holder will be responsible for leading on the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme within the context of integrated prevention and early help. They will ensure universal contact is offered for the five nationally mandated reviews. Additional support and targeted interventions will be offered to those families where additional need is identified.  0-19 colleagues use Parentline a confidential texting service as additional support for families in North Tyneside.

The essential requirements of the post are:
  • 1st level NMC registration / Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) qualification with three years SCPHN experience.
  • Experience in a leadership role, supervisory experience and the ability to meet the travel requirements of the post.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 and an Enhanced DBS disclosure, including Barred List Check, will be required.
