Further Information
Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic town with growing prospects. As an authority we want to make Hartlepool the best it possibly can be and want dedicated, driven and committed staff to help us achieve that.

Are you passionate about heritage skills and maritime history? Are you able to excite and inspire others? Hartlepool Borough Council is looking for a Maritime Skills Academy Coordinator to join the Tides of Change project. This exciting role offers the opportunity to develop, deliver, and promote skills-based programs, engaging young people, local residents, and visitors with Hartlepool’s rich maritime history.

Tides of Change is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to secure development funding to progress our ambitions for the Museum of Hartlepool and PS Wingfield Castle to support the regeneration of Hartlepool’s historic waterfront.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow and sustain the Maritime Skills Academy.
Design and deliver educational programs in maritime skills, including boat building, sail making, and navigation.
Lead a team of skilled craftspeople and educators to run hands-on workshops and events.
Promote maritime career pathways and collaborate with local businesses and training providers.
Assist with fundraising, grant writing, and evaluation of programme impact.

Building on the legacy of Tall Ships Race 2023 and as part of Hartlepool Borough Council’s commitment to learning and skills this newly created role will have the opportunity to steer an exciting initiative in collaboration with stakeholders for the benefits of local residents and beyond.

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience in developing and delivering educational programmes, ideally in skills or crafts.
Possesses strong organisational skills and the ability to manage budgets and resources.
Is passionate about heritage skills education and can engage diverse audiences.

This is a fixed term contract till November 2025 with the possibility of extension to 2029 subject to further funding.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to Hartlepool's historic waterfront regeneration while making a lasting impact on maritime, heritage and culture career pathways in the Tees Valley.

The role is eligible for hybrid working.
