We are seeking to appoint a Social Worker to join our Next Steps Team to provide a particular focus and specialism in supporting our Unaccompanied Asylum Seeing Young People. The successful candidate will carry out Pathway Assessments, produce Pathway Plans and care plans, and undertake direct work with children, families, carers, and other professionals. You will ensure that children and young people’s needs are met in appropriate care provisions and accommodations, safeguarding them and addressing issues such as mental health, substance abuse, and child sexual exploitation. The candidate will also be responsible for supporting our young people with their asylum applications, undertaking age assessments, human rights assessments and setting up home within the area.

You will require a degree in Social Work with a relevant professional qualification (CSS/CQSW or DipSW, MA SW, BA Hons SW), current Social Work England Registration, and a driving licence with access to a car or means to mobility support. Experience in statutory social work with children and families, knowledge of childcare legislation, and the ability to manage workload and handle difficult situations calmly and sensitively are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage an assigned caseload of primarily Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Young People, assessing and managing risks appropriately.

Formulate Pathway and care plans based on the needs of children and young people.

Support with Asylum Applications and establishing a home in the area
Undertake age and human rights assessments as needed

Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies.

Attend specific training relating to working with Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Young People and represent TfC at regional events

Maintain case records and other information in accordance with procedures and timescales.

Stay updated with social work practices and identify training needs.

Ensure effective communication across services and with stakeholders.
