As part of a central team within Education North Tyneside, we are looking to appoint a teacher of the deaf to join our peripatetic team where we support children with hearing impairment in schools and settings across North Tyneside.
We are a highly successful and experienced team with a depth and breadth of working knowledge used to support children and young people through different schools and settings with children from birth / diagnosis to adulthood, so the ability to work from early years to KS4 is essential.
Holding the mandatory qualification required as a teacher of the deaf is desirable, but not essential, as an experienced team we are able to support colleagues new to this field and in the event that the successful candidate does not hold the mandatory qualification a commitment to undertake/ gain this qualification within a set time period is required/ essential.
The successful candidate would work across a range of age groups and educational settings throughout North Tyneside, must be able to work as part of a team. The role does require an element of travelling between settings and working with / in schools and settings to support the children and young people in their school environment. A commitment to continuing professional development is essential.
The successful candidate will be given a full induction alongside a supported professional development programme to ensure that they are able to undertake the full duties and responsibilities of the role. As a service we are committed to safeguarding all pupils.
Please note applicants must hold a teaching qualification, and ideally have a current full driving license. Experience of working with hearing impaired children is desirable, but full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
