Salary range: Grade 8 - 9 £46,731 - £57,408

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable governance professional to join the Central Team of our expanding Multi-Academy Trust.

Occupying a key and influential co-ordinating role within the organisation, the post-holder will be responsible for maintaining the highest standard of Trust governance, managing the interface between the Trust Board, its subcommittees and senior managers and facilitating the smooth operation of the Trust’s formal decision-making and reporting processes. A key aspect of the role is the ability to forward plan and support a range of committee meetings and ensure these are accurately and concisely recorded. You will also take a lead role in the recruitment, induction and training of Trustees and Governors

As the Head of Governance & Trust Secretary, you will have the responsibility of line managing the Governance Support Officer, ensuring the efficient administration of the Trust’s governance operations. Your leadership will be key in ensuring that high standards of governance are maintained and that the necessary administrative support is in place for all governance-related activities.

Applicants should have the ability to act with impartiality, diplomacy and discretion while providing independent, high-quality guidance on statutory, constitutional, operational procedural and ethical issues as they affect the Trust Board and its subcommittees.

You will also need to have excellent communication skills and be confident in liaising with senior leaders of an organisation. You should possess a high level of personal organisation skills and the ability to act on your own initiative and work to tight deadlines, within set procedures.

We offer a generous package with benefits including 32 days annual leave plus bank holidays, LGPS defined benefit pension scheme, free on-site parking and a variety of staff benefits and discounts. Talk to us about possible flexible working arrangements, including an element of home-working.

If this is the opportunity for you, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Karl Fairley, Chair of the Academy Trust Board at karl.fairley@newdur.ac.uk to arrange an informal discussion.
