We are delighted to be recruiting for a Social Value Officer to join our forward thinking, motivated and well-respected Procurement team.

Social Value in a procurement context is about improving the economic, social and environmental well-being of our borough for our residents and businesses through our procurement activity.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council spends around £215 million per year buying in a diverse range of goods, works and services to deliver the ambitious plans we have for our borough and its residents.

This newly created role will involve embedding the Council’s social value policy across the organisation with the aim of securing meaningful social value outcomes from our procurement activities.

You will work with officers across the council, from other local authorities and partnership organisations and with organisations bidding for council contracts. As such, excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills are essential for the role.

You will be required to manage the social value commitments from successful contractors and ensure they deliver what they commit to, a confident approach is key.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council prides itself on being a great place to work where staff are trusted, valued and supported to make a positive contribution at work.

We offer an excellent total reward package, including:
  • A competitive salary starting at £37,035 and progressing up to £39,513
  • 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years’ service (plus bank holidays). Ability to purchase additional leave is also available.
  • Generous Pension Scheme through the LGPS with ability to pay extra and plan for retirement.
  • Access to a number of other employee benefits including learning & development opportunities, a car lease scheme, discounts at high street and online retailers, an employee assistance programme and physiotherapy services.

And that’s not all – you can also work flexibly where you can work part of your week at home. When not at home you will be based in our newly redeveloped Stockton waterfront offices with onsite parking, café, accessible from major transport networks and just a short walk from Thornaby train station.
