Requirements

Could you be a positive role model for a young person in need of support?

Together for Children is looking for compassionate, reliable, and enthusiastic volunteers to join our Breathing Space project as Mentors. This rewarding role involves providing 1-to-1 support to young people aged School Years 5 to 9 who are at risk of suspension or exclusion and may have a diagnosis or be on the pathway for Autism and/or SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs).

As a mentor, you’ll help create a safe, supportive space where young people can build confidence, develop social skills, and stay connected to education.

  • Meet weekly with a young person for 12 weeks
  • Take part in fun, interest-based activities in the community
  • Build a trusting, supportive relationship
  • Encourage participation in positive, structured opportunities
  • Provide emotional support and be a consistent, positive presence
  • Complete short session reflections and manage a small activity budget
