DESCRIPTION OF ROLE: The Visitor Assistant is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the site, for interpreting and promoting the site and for general maintenance and clerical duties as assigned. The Visitor Assistant will be expected to contribute to the overall objective of making each visitors stay an enjoyable one through good and informative interpretation, good on-site support, development of the educational experience and the delivery of pleasant and personal customer care services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THIS POST: Listed below are the responsibilities this role will be primarily responsible for: Advising, assisting and informing visitors to Binchester Roman Fort. Site security including opening and closing the site, locking of buildings and securing of perimeter, reasonable control of visitors and protection against vandalism. Other staffing duties including collecting visitor monies, shop sales etc. Responsibility for covering absences of the other Visitor Assistant as and when necessary. Clerical duties including banking, stock control, developing displays and advertising material and maintaining appropriate records and statistical data. Under the direction of the Principal Archaeologist, assisting in routine maintenance where necessary. Maintaining the site in a clean and tidy condition. Contributing, with others, to the continued development and improvement of Binchester and its services to visitors. 9. COMMON DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 9.1 Quality Assurance To set, monitor and evaluate standards at individual, team performance and service quality so that the user and the Services requirements are met and that the highest standards are maintained.
