We are looking for a talented teacher and dynamic leader to join our senior leadership team. The successful candidate will support the academy in providing the best possible standards of teaching and learning for our children. The creation of this position is designed around one purpose – to ensure that all of our pupils are able to fully achieve and succeed in English. The post will be a combination of dedicated leadership time, and a teaching commitment in year group yet to be negotiated.

We are a popular and forward thinking school judged last year as ‘good’ by Ofsted, and are now striving towards regaining the judgement of ‘outstanding’ that we were awarded in 2010. Both reports are available on the academy’s website www.theribbonschool.co.uk

The successful candidate will:
• Be a proven successful class teacher
• Be passionate about raising standards, accelerating pupil progress and increasing opportunities to succeed for all groups of pupils, ‘closing the gaps’ in learning
• Have successfully led a curriculum area or a team of people
• Have an ability to initiate, innovate and lead change

In return we can offer you:
• The opportunity to be part of a senior leadership team, manage a sizeable budget and lead a large team
• The opportunity to be part of a progressive and forward thinking school
• A commitment to work with you to realise your leadership potential and gain valuable leadership experience
• The chance to work in a large school which is somewhere new and unique

Essential Qualifications: QTS

Essential Experience:
• Successful experience at phase, key stage or core curriculum leadership level within a primary school
• Experience of successful and co-operative working as a member of a team
• Experience of the successful leadership of change
• Track record over time of raising pupil achievement
• Track record of actively promoting safeguarding procedures in a school
• Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations
• Proven leadership skills
• Curriculum management - planning, delivery and assessment
• Ability to analyse and evaluate external and internal data in order to accurately prioritise strategic leadership objectives.
• Experience, knowledge and understanding of education partnerships
• A clear vision and understanding of the needs of all pupils in order to ‘close the gap’ in learning
• Detailed knowledge of the structure and content of the current primary and Early Years/Foundation curriculum, especially English and knowledge of new National Curriculum for English
• Understanding and knowledge of current issues in education
