Allen Valleys Landscape Partnership Scheme

The AONB Partnership is establishing a new team within the AONB Staff Unit to deliver its four year Allen Valleys Landscape Partnership Scheme. A £2.7 million Scheme supported principally by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This is a great opportunity to shape and deliver an exciting project within a strong team in one of England's wildest and most special places.

The post offered is an initial three year contract, based between the AONB Partnership's attractive offices in the market town of Stanhope, in Weardale, County Durham and a satellite office in Allendale, Northumberland, and employed by our host authority Durham County Council.

The Allen Valleys Landscape Partnership Scheme includes a landscape-scale focus on the conservation and restoration of native woodland and trees, riparian habitat, haymeadows, wading birds and red squirrels, alongside significant work on the restoration of historic structures associated with the lead mining industry, community based interpretation and the celebration of heritage, and the development of training and educational opportunities.

You will ensure the delivery of the conservation and restoration of natural heritage elements of the scheme, working with partners including Natural England, National Trust, RSPB, Red Squirrels Northern England, landowners and local groups. You will ideally have particular experience of conservation of rivers and/or woodlands and working with community groups and volunteers.
