This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker. The postholder will be based at Belmont Junior School within a multi-professional Team supporting children with sensory needs .You will be expected to represent the Service at specialist information giving events. The Inclusion and Achievement SEND Team within Durham County Council provides a Countywide service to children and young people who have a hearing impairment and their families including attendance at short breaks and occasional evening visits to promote parental choice.
Applicants must have a relevant professional qualification in social work, substantial experience, and be registered with the HCPC. You will hold a Level 1 in British Sign Language qualification or higher or be willing to train to level 2.
You will also have significant experience in the safeguarding of Children and Young People as well as substantial experience in Child Protection or Generic Social Work and working with children and /or young people who have a hearing impairment.
You will bring with you a proven track record of success, be able to effectively communicate in a multi-agency environment, be confident in assessing and have the ability to risk manage complex situations. The work is therefore varied and challenging.
