The Emotional Wellbeing and Effective Learning Team is seeking to recruit a part-time counsellor to join our established team in providing a professional counselling service to children and young people in County Durham schools.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and accredited counsellors (or counsellors who are working towards accreditation) with experience in counselling children and young people. Applicants should also have an awareness and understanding of mental health issues and be able to demonstrate good organisational skills and an ability to work independently.
As the position is school based you are expected to have experience of working within school systems and settings, including the ability to liaise with other professionals and parents.

Members of the service will benefit from regular clinical supervision and access to professional development through team meetings and development days, in line with BACP ethical standards. The counsellor will be part of a larger multi-disciplinary team who promote and support the wellbeing and learning of young people in Durham schools.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established school counselling service which offers support to young people within a multi-agency context.

Essential Qualifications: Diploma in Counselling or equivalent and Professional Accreditation or working towards accreditation.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Claudia O'Hara, Team Leader or Peter Mulholland, Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist, on 03000 263333.

Interviews are scheduled for w/c 6th October 2014.

In line with the County Council's Recruitment and Selection Policy, please note that we are unable to accept CVs. Any information provided on CVs will not be considered for short-listing purposes.
