Further Information
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Educational Psychologist in County Durham following the retirement of the current post-holder.

Durham Educational Psychology Service is very well regarded within the Local Authority and consistently receives excellent feedback from service users. It maintains highly positive working relationships with schools and with other professionals as well as with parents and carers. The Service is moving to a traded basis for non-statutory work with schools from September 2014. Traded activities include a wide range of applied psychology such as consultation, training, therapeutic work as well as assessment.

The Service consists of a number of additional teams which are managed by Senior and Specialist Educational Psychologists. In response to the new Code of Practice 2014 the Local Authority has realigned its services against the 4 SEN categories of need each led by a Senior Educational Psychologist.

This is a large service and currently many of the Educational Psychologists are located in multi-agency settings, returning to full management by the Educational Psychology Service from September 2014.

This is a time of significant change for the service and the role offers opportunities for the right candidate to be involved in strategic developments in SEND within the Local Authority as well as supporting the service to adapt to change.

Interviews scheduled for 25th November 2014.

For further information please contact Jane Le Sage Stratgeic Manager for SEND and Inclusion on 03000 267756 or email: jlesage@durham.gov.uk
