Further Information
The Joint Committee see the needs of the bereaved as paramount and seek to provide a professional, sensitive and sympathetic service at our crematoria and cemeteries.

The Mountsett Crematorium handles approximately 1,400 cremations each year and has an excellent reputation and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service to the bereaved.

Overall the Council provides a valued service and one that has achieved a Gold standard through the ICCM (Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management). The service has recently been rated by ICCM as the tenth best performing in the country.

We are looking to appoint a trainee crematorium attendant who can assist in the provision of a sympathetic service and train towards the recognised F.B.C.A Crematorium technician certificate qualification.

You should be educated to NVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant subject with a willingness to train towards the F.B.C.A qualification within one year of commencement.

You will be a dedicated, self motivated and resourceful individual, with the ability to deal with members of the public in a sensitive and professional manner at all times.

Key responsibilities of this varied role include the operation of cremators, cremulators and associated equipment; including strewing of cremated remains and cleaning duties as well as grounds maintenance activities and you will be expected to work additional hours in the evenings and weekends on a Rota basis.

Your duties could also include the preparation of chapels for services, attending chapels during services, and providing assistance to funeral directors and members of the clergy.

As the crematoria are open every day of the year you will also act as duty attendant on Sundays and public holidays on a rota basis.

You must have the ability to work as part of a team, working to high standards of performance which the service requires. You must also be able to work on your own initiative.

We are members of the ICCM’s Charter for the Bereaved and you should have enthusiasm and commitment to further improving standards of service in accordance with the Charter’s objectives.

You will be able to demonstrate commitment to delivering high quality customer service and hold a current driving licence.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held on Tuesday 18/11/2014.
