Your normal place of work will be the schools purchasing the Service Level Agreements. However, you may be required to work at any council workplace within County Durham, and on a monthly basis will be expected to attend Team Meetings at the Education Development Centre in Spennymoor.

Durham School's Counselling Service is seeking to recruit a part-time counsellor to join our established team in providing a professional counselling service to Children and Young People in County Durham schools.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and accredited counsellors (or counsellors who are working towards accreditation) with experience in counselling children and young people. Applicants should also have an awareness and understanding of mental health issues and be able to demonstrate good organisational skills and an ability to work independently.

Qualfications : Diploma in counselling or equivalent.

As the position is school based you are expected to have experience of working within school systems and settings, including the ability to liaise with other professionals and parents.

Members of the service will benefit from regular clinical supervision and access to professional development through team meetings and development days, in line with BACP ethical standards. The counsellor will be part of a larger multi-disciplinary team who promote and support the wellbeing and learning of young people in Durham schools.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established school counselling service which offers support to young people within a multi-agency context.
