Applications are invited for this excellent opportunity to advance understanding of the historic environment in County Durham and Teesside, by encouraging participation in the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS), identifying and recording archaeological objects found by members of the public and assisting in making the results accessible to all.

The post-holder will be report directly to the Principal Archaeologist but will also liaise closely with other FLOs in the NE region. They will provide advice and guidance about the Portable Antiquities Scheme to stakeholders, members of the public and other relevant organisations.

We welcome applications from candidates with experience of working with finds. An awareness of standards and best practice in respect of metal-detecting, treasure and portable antiquities would be an advantage.

Required qualifications: Degree in archaeology or related discipline.

You will be required to travel in rural areas, so you must have a valid driving licence and have access to your own transport.
