A vacancy has arisen within Health and Safety for a Health and Safety Adviser (Fire) to support the Health & Safety Manager, Team Leader and Senior Health & Safety Advisers in ensuring high standards of fire safety for all employees and in all areas where the Council has an interest.

The post holder will assist in the formulation of appropriate policies and practices with particular emphasis on providing advice and direction in fire safety management. They will also contribute to the provision of professional fire safety service provision against the background of the Council’s objectives, guiding principles and equality policies, including the continuous development of a positive fire safety culture, which is regarded as being integral to normal management functions.

The successful candidate will contribute to ensuring that legal, statutory and other relevant provisions governing or affecting fire safety at work are observed and implemented, and produce reports and data on various aspects of work and maintain records as directed. They will also be required to undertake fire safety audits or inspections of operations or activities where the Council has an interest and contribute to written reports of any recommendations of improvements or changes to working practices.

The post holder will be required to liaise with Fire & Rescue Service and specialist sections as appropriate.
