We are looking to appoint a number of experienced and qualified social workers in our Families First and Assessment and Intervention Service. This is an exciting opportunity to join Durham as we move from a traditional Assessment and Intervention service to a new multi-skilled social work led integrated service, known as Families First. We have already started the first phase of our transformation which is planned to be completed across the whole county by early 2016. Have you the necessary experience, drive and enthusiasm for working in a multi skilled integrated team to achieve best outcomes for children and their families?

The teams will be responsible for responding to all new referrals for Children in Need, completing single assessments and offering intensive support to families to assist them to make change; enquiries under Section 47 of the Children Act 1989; working with families up to the point of an initial child protection conference and some court work. The teams will also be responsible for working intensively with some families with complex needs who may be at risk of becoming subject to safeguarding services and who require intensive, multi agency coordinated support.

Required Qualifications: Degree in social work or equivalent social work qualification i.e. CQSW, CSS or Dip SW and HCPC Registration; Social Workers are expected to undertake Practice Teacher training and take a student after completing two years at post-qualifying level.
