The Governors of Catchgate Primary School are looking to appoint an outstanding Childcare Early Years Practitioner to work at a Senior level supporting the Childcare Manager, accountable to the Early Years Lead and Head Teacher.

The successful candidate will be second in charge of our small yet busy setting ensuring that high quality Early Years provision is continuously provided for the children and families accessing the setting.

Candidates must have and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the EYFS, Development Matters and children’s development across the age range of birth to 5. In addition candidates must have knowledge and experience of providing challenge within the Early Years curriculum and have proven methods of promoting achievement, ensuring the best possible outcomes for all children.

Main Duties:
• Contribute to the aims and objectives of the school’s Early Years function within the childcare setting
• Support the Childcare Manager in the day to day management and organisation of the setting
• Assist the Childcare Manager with staff rotas and mapping
• Contribute to the SEF
• Act as the senior member of staff in the setting during the Manager’s absence
• Plan and prepare age related activities as appropriate
• Undertake Key Person role
• Comply with school assessment and reporting procedures and timescales
• Work in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team and School Business Manager
• Attend, plan and contribute to staff meetings
• Contribute to the line management of childcare staff
• Act as a role model for junior staff and or trainees / apprentices
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with all stakeholders linked with the setting
• Adhere to all adopted Durham County Council’s policies at all times specifically the employee code of conduct, Health and Safety policy and Keeping children safe in Education.
