Further Information
A temporary opportunity has arisen for a Vacancy Co-ordinator to work within the Employability Section of Economic Development and Housing Service until 30th June 2018.

DurhamWorks is an exciting, innovative, £17m programme led by Durham County Council in partnership with sixteen external Delivery Partners. It will support 5830 16-24 year old unemployed County Durham residents into employment, education or training through intensive and long-term support; innovative and engaging activities to develop motivation, work-related skills and work experience and increased employment opportunities.

The offer of support from the Economic Development (Employability) team from within REAL is that of a wrap-around employability support and placement service which is designed to support the development of young people into employment, apprenticeships, self-employment or further education.

The proposed structure details Vacancy Co-ordinator positions that will provide
support to the Business Advisor and Youth Employment Advisor teams during the recruitment process to ensure the relevant young people are introduced to the most appropriate employment opportunities. The post-holders will perform a variety of tasks including advertising opportunities, matching/pre-screening potential candidates against pre-agreed requirements using a database of CVs, confirming interviews and helping with candidate preparation and any travel arrangements or purchase of equipment.

In addition, the Vacancy Co-ordinators will be accountable for providing post-
employment support to young people and to continue to monitor progress and
maintain an ongoing relationship with the client, principally using a variety of social media platforms.

Business Advisor (BA) roles will directly engage with a range of businesses across County Durham to identify those looking to undertake recruitment and Youth Employment Advisor posts will provide a comprehensive assessment, action planning and ongoing support role to help to match the young clients to those employment and/or qualification opportunities.

The set-up of the DurhamWorks programme will be through the establishment of three Area teams covering the existing localities of the One Point Service;

South – Ferryhill, Barnard Castle, Newton Aycliffe
Central/East – Seaham, Peterlee, Chester-le-Street
North – Stanley, Consett, Durham

Applicants should hold an NVQ 2 in Business Administration or an equivalent qualification together with experience of working in the careers, employability or training sector.

Interviews have been scheduled to be held on Tuesday 11th July 2017.
