Children’s Services are looking for a Senior Practitioner to work in our Child Protection team based in Stanley.
The role is ideal for an experienced social worker who is looking for a role with additional responsibility, and/or a social worker who is considering a move into management at a later stage. Senior Practitioners are encouraged to access our comprehensive management development programme as well as our practitioner development programme.
The role of the Senior Practitioner is to support the Team Manager in the management and co-ordination of the work of the team, ensuring that quality standards are maintained and developed. The postholder will also hold a complex caseload.

To be the right person for this role you will:
• Be an experienced social worker substantial post qualifying experience with children and young people (including significant experience in child protection/care proceedings/care planning)
• Want to make a real difference to the safety and well-being of children and young people in Durham

To be apply for this post you must:
• Hold a degree or post graduate diploma in social work, or equivalent social work qualification, for example the Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW), Certificate in Social Services (CSS) or Diploma in Social Work (DipSW)
• Be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Have successfully completed at least 1 post qualifying module e.g. Consolidation module/practice educator award
• Have substantial post qualification experience in social work with children and young people
• Undergo Police Vetting, which us in addition to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure
