Durham County Council provides a wide range of services to people who live in, visit and work in County Durham.

Our apprenticeships are practical work-based schemes that allow you to learn, work, earn money and get nationally recognised qualifications all at the same time.

An opportunity has arisen for 3 Waste Operative Apprentices.

They will build up the necessary skills to support the team and work proactively to support the team and service delivery by:

• Learning and undertaking duties across waste management
functions including:
• Refuse and Recycling Collection
• Weighbridge Operations
• Waste Transfer Station Operations
• Operational Support and Development
• Strategic Waste
• Working alongside fully trained Operatives, as part of a team for
the collection and disposal of refuse and recyclable materials.

Due to Health and Safety reasons, Applicants need to be 18 years old or over.

You should be willing to undertake further training together with basic knowledge of the role of Refuse and Recycling with good communication and numeric skills.

May require working to a 4 or 5 day week and place of work may vary.
